This quote captures the essence of Mindset. Belief is what drives us to do everything, if you believe that you’ll always be overweight then you will be - if you believe you can loose the weight then you will. There is fascinating brain science coming out that explains these principles. I would recommend reading ‘Innercise’ by John Assaraf. It’s an amazing look into how the brain works and how your subconscious mind actually stops you from changing. Ever try to stop a habit that you do and you just can’t? Well, that’s your brain trying to maintain the status quo.
Taking control of your own career will be a lot of work, it takes a lot of work to make it in any industry, if you’re not happy with that then you can either not do it or find another way… like partner up with someone who wants to do it. Your mindset will dictate how you make every decision in your life, if you’re not where you want to be, then it might be an idea to look inside yourself.
